UH Division of Research Recognizes Dr. Candice Alfano
TIMES is proud to announce that Dr. Candice Alfano is one of two Associate Professors being recognized by the University of Houston as a recipient of one of the 2014-2015 Awards for Excellence in Research, Scholarship or Creative Activity. This award recognizes faculty who have established a growing record of outstanding research, scholarship or creative contributions, and who are emerging leaders in their field.
Dr. Alfano is a licensed clinical psychologist and Associate Professor of Psychology, as well as the Director of the Sleep and Anxiety Center of Houston. Her research interests include anxiety and sleep disorders across the life span, the role of inadequate sleep in the development of affective problems, and behavioral interventions. Dr. Alfano’s research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Defense (DoD), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). She serves on the scientific council for the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) and the board of directors for the Society for Behavioral Sleep Medicine (SBSM).
